European Casino Association Releases 2025–2029 Manifesto
The European Casino Association has unveiled an ambitious manifesto for the years 2025 to 2029, detailing its commitments to addressing illegal gambling and enhancing anti-money laundering measures.

Illegal Gambling in 2025
Illegal gambling poses a significant threat, with an estimated annual revenue of €42 billion generated within the European Union. This figure comprises approximately €32 billion from online activities and an additional €10 billion from unregulated land-based gaming. The ramifications of these illicit operations extend beyond financial losses, as EU governments forfeit over €10 billion in tax revenues each year.
However, the more pressing concern is the safety of players, as illegal gambling undermines consumer protection and the regulatory frameworks that EU nations strive to establish. ECA Chair Erwin van Lambaart has emphasized the urgency of tackling these issues, stating that the manifesto reflects a commitment to fostering a responsible and regulated land-based casino industry within the EU.
