GiG Obtains New Swedish Gambling Licence
Gaming Innovation Group, otherwise known as GiG, is now officially licenced for work in Sweden.
Spelinspektionen has awarded the prestigious software gambling licence to GiG at the start of May for its award-winning platform.
New Rules
Sweden is shaking things up! The major European market has announced a set of new rules to come into effect on the July 1st, 2023, notably that all B2B software developers working in the country must own a valid Spelinspektionen licence. For most software providers, that means they simply must update their licences according to the updated legislation.
For Gaming Innovation Group, Sweden is an important market, having established many connections with various operators and brands since its official Swedish launch.
At the moment, GiG’s potent platform powers a number of highly successful brands in Sweden, including SuprNation, Betsson’s Zecure brands, and Lucky Days.
Zecure brands refer to a cluster of highly popular online casino brands which used to belong to Gaming Innovation Group, but which Betsson acquired a couple of years ago.
Confirmation of GiG’s Dominance
Despite not being in the software development sphere anymore, GiG has remained one of the top iGaming companies with a strong presence in dozens of markets. The company might not be producing games anymore, but the focus on developing software solutions, sportsbook content, and gambling software. At the moment, GiG has officially 29 iGaming market licences, with 8 new market entries on the horizon.
GiG’s Chief Commercial Officer Marcel Elfersy had commented on the deal:
“We have been an active presence in Sweden for many years, with the company having its origins in the region, and we have a deep understanding of the needs of operators in the local market.” He also added that the platform and sportsbook suit the “increasingly complex regulatory environments there” and that GiG looks forward to sustainable growth in Sweden.
