LeoVegas has recently taken some serious steps towards creating a safer environment for its customers and enabling them to gamble responsibly.
This successful company, classified as a “unicorn” company in 2017, has recently had some issues with the UK Gambling Commission to resolve.
LeoVegas has been fined with €680,500 by the Gambling Commission in May for “failings” related to misleading advertising and the handling of customers. The online casino failed to return funds to 11,205 customers when they chose to self-exclude and close their accounts and also allowed 413 previously self-excluded customers to gamble again, without speaking to those punters first or applying the 24-hour cooling off period. Additionally, marketing material was sent to 1,894 people who had previously self-excluded and therefore LeoVegas was fined and had to work on their codes of practice.
LeoVegas has integrated all of its brands with LeoSafePlay which offers tools to players to limit their sessions, wagers and even pause account functions. Responsible gaming has always been one of the top principles of the company. This includes training employees on continuous basis on how to identify, talk with and help customers who show tendencies for unsound gaming. They have a dedicated team that works exclusively on these issues with the technological support from algorithms and machine learning.
In order to raise the bar even higher for responsible gaming, LeoVegas signed a partnership with GAMSTOP, a central system in the British market, created to enable customers to restrict their gambling with all online gambling companies licensed in the UK. GAMSTOP is run by a not-for-profit organization called The National Online Self-Exclusion Scheme Limited and is created to back up all players that want to exclude them-selves.
The functions offered by LeoVegasPlay are only being further enhanced through the integration with GAMSTOP.
“In addition to LeoSafePlay, which is our overarching platform for responsible gaming, we are now taking yet another step to enhance player protection,” comments Gustaf Hagman, CEO of LeoVegas. “Adding GAMSTOP shows our high ambitions in responsible gaming.”
