The European Gaming and Amusement Federation (EUROMAT) has welcomed another member on board, Merkur Gaming.
A division of the German giant Gauselmann Group has joined EUROMAT with hopes to help productive dialogue with the EU.
Since the industry in Europe is highly regulated and regarded as a highly taxed sector that provides hundreds of thousands of jobs, Merkur joined the federation as a solid partner. Merkur Gaming is working on the development and sales of gaming and casino slot machines, and also video lottery terminals and server-based gaming systems for Gauselmann’s international markets. This joint venture will lead to a positive discussion with the European Union and other pan-European bodies about gaming-related policy issues.
“Merkur Gaming, EUROMAT is gaining a strong partner with many years of industry experience that will give the interests of the gaming industry additional weight at EU level,” explains Athanasios “Sakis” Isaakidis, Chief Executive, International and Head of International Product Management at Merkur Gaming.
Isaakidis further explained the need for this collaboration.
“It is natural that we would seek to have a closer relationship with EUROMAT. It is a great source of regulatory insight and market data which is so valuable from a business perspective. With a growing profile and expanding membership to match, it is an exciting time to be part of EUROMAT”.
Established in 1979 to represent the interest of the gaming industry in Europe, EUROMAT is working on expanding its national association membership with the recent addition of IATA and the association’s corporate membership category continues to grow with the addition of Merkur Gaming.
Based in Brussels, EUROMAT now counts a total of 18 national member associations from 12 European countries in addition to its 4 corporate members. It informs its members about policy decisions and forthcoming legislation that might affect the legal, commercial and technical framework conditions of companies, and also provides information on the European gaming sector to media, administrative bodies and citizens. The federation strives to increase the gaming sector’s competitiveness, fairness and socially responsible practice.
EUROMAT President Jason Frost believes the Merkur joining the team will increase the number of their corporate members.
“We are delighted to welcome such a major industry player to EUROMAT. Merkur Gaming’s membership will strengthen the number of our corporate members.”
