Renowned iGaming provider Microgaming with its PlayItForward has donated £12,680 to aid a charity to expand its gambling-related harm prevention programme to the Isle of Man.

The Young Gamblers Education Trust (YGAM) is the independent UK registered charity that focuses on raising awareness of gambling and potential harm related to gambling issues among young people through its accredited educational programme. In the past three years, the charity has conducted presentations across the UK, but also in Malta, Gibraltar and Holland.

Together for a Noble Cause

What Microgaming PlayItForward’s donation will do for YGAM is to enable it to deliver its workshops to the Isle of Man, where it has planned to work with schools and the government on spreading awareness by participating in its established Train the Trainer workshops.

The workshops are primarily aimed at teachers, youth works and community volunteers, coaching them on how to develop digital resilience. Additionally, Microgaming will take part in the programme alongside YGAM to ease the delivery of bespoke accredited training around player protection.

Kimberley Broad, head of compliance at Microgaming, has announced, “Promoting responsible gaming and supporting our local community are hugely important to us.”

She has gone on to explain that Microgaming is naturally keen on supporting YGAM in extending its accredited programme to the Isle of Man. YGAM has left a remarkable impression on the iGaming provider and since its aim to increase awareness and resilience against gambling-related harm, Microgaming has decided to support the battle.

YGAM Is Appreciative

Lee Willows, chief executive at YGAM, has said that Microgaming and YGAM are both equally interested in partaking in this project. It provides an ideal opportunity to take YGAM’s education programmes and accredited and authentic training further to the Isle of Man, Willows has added.

The initiative focuses on health, sport, education, charity and community, and thus Willows has concluded, “We are hugely grateful for the donation from Microgaming PlayItForward as we believe taking our programmes to the Isle of Man will enable us to engage with another professional [teaching] audience and gain valuable feedback on the relevance and educational content.”
