NOVOMATIC Lottery Solutions (NLS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Novomatic, has been selected by Norsk Tipping to develop a digital version of the operator’s most popular scratchcard games.

Norsk Tipping has offered a wide range of lottery, sports and instant games in the Norwegian market ever since its inception in 1948. In following their strategy to continue to select the award-winning games from some of the most extensive portfolios worldwide, they organized a mini competition to find the best provider for the deal.

Austria-based lottery provider, Novomatic, has won a mini competition conducted among tough rivalry.

Norwegian state-owned lottery operator wanted to find the best supplier of the digital version of their most popular scratch game, Million Flax, which has become one of Norsk Tipping’s best performing title in the retail sector since its launch in 1995.

Not only did Novomatic offer a smooth transition of all elements from the physical ticket to its digital version but it also proposed attractive and playful animations that can further enhance players’ retention. In addition, Novomatic will also provide business development expertise in the area of interactive games and support the growth of Norsk Tipping portfolio.

“We are very happy that once again our offering has proven to be the best fit for Norsk Tipping’s sophisticated online games portfolio. It was a competitive bid and the fact that we won based on quality is another validation of Novomatic’s innovative approach to the e-instant game category” Pall Palsson, Director of Product Management at Novomatic explained.

The Extension of the Deal

Novomatic and Norsk Tipping have a long and successful collaboration ever since their first deal in March 2017, following a competitive tender process in the area of interactive games.

In the summer of 2018, Novomatic has been awarded a three-year contract with an optional one-year extension by Norsk Tipping under which Novomatic will design and manage instant games and digital versions of the Lottery’s Flax game.

Novomatic, together with its partner, Gamevy, a supplier and operator of real-money games, provides six innovative e-instant games to the Norwegian Lottery. This was in fact, great validation for Novomatic’s strategy to both partner with Gamevy and create innovative content in-house. The end result of the deal with Norsk Tipping was fantastic, reaching a younger target audience with innovative games.

NLS Managing Director & CEO, Frank Cecchini commented the deal in July “The content NLS will deliver will ignite and renew player excitement in the Lottery’s e-instant portfolio and interactive games because NLS is truly committed to delivering new solutions and new standards to the lottery customers we serve.”
