Open Discussion on Problem Gambling in the US
Emphasising measures of precaution and presenting potential risks and dangers of uncontrolled gambling, the American Dover Downs Casino will host a gambling addiction programme.
Dover Downs Hotel and Casino have taken into their hands to organise this quintessential panel to spread awareness of addiction issues and help those in need. The team behind this programme is a group of highly educated and conscientious people, well aware of how destructive addictive behaviour can be.
Overview
The open, interdisciplinary discussion will be held on Thursday, 15th March 2018 at the hotel’s conference centre. It will take place between 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and multiple view points and preventing measures will be discussed. The chief speaker of the conference will be Dr. Heather Chapman, a clinical psychologist and nationally-certified gambling counsellor. Renowned for his professionalism and expertise, Chapman has for many years been a gambling consultant. Ms. Chapman is currently the deputy director of the Veterans Addiction Recovery Center and the director of the Gambling Treatment Program at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center in Ohio.

Recent surveys have shown that the estimated number of active duty U.S. service members with a gambling problem amounts to 56,000. The statistics have also revealed that the most vulnerable faces of pathological gambling include twice as many active duty service members than average American residents.
