Matt Ashley Is William Hill’s New CFO and Executive Director
After a stressful couple of weeks, William Hill finally found its perfect CFO. The debate about the new position caused quite a stir in the previous months. William Hill’s Ruth Prior is to step down as CFO and the company needed a replacement.
After we announced last week that Marsh, the intended new financial officer, refused to join the firm, so William Hill needed a solution. The new CFO and Executive Director, as the company announced, will be Matt Ashley.
Certainty in Uncertain Times
As we already announced a week ago, Adrian Marsh was supposed to be the new CFO of William Hill. Marsh even announced that he would be leaving his CFO position at DC Smith, an international packaging firm. However, only two weeks before he was to take his position, he changed his mind.
The reason was the virus outbreak. He decided to stick with his old company and William Hill Group fully supported him. However, the company faced a challenge. Prior, the current CFO and Executive Director announced her departure months ago.
And only a week after the Marsh debacle, William Hill found a new candidate that will, hopefully, fit the firm perfectly. The new CFO and Executive Director of the company is Matt Ashley, who will transfer from National Express. National Express, where he worked until now, is in the transport industry. Ashley has more than two decades of experience in finance.
Other Company Changes
Ashley’s appointment is not the only change at William Hill. Namely, the company hired Stephen Perry as well, and he will be the new COO. He will join the company later this year, but we do not know precisely when. Right now, Perry is working at Flutter Entertainment, where he is the Integration Director for the Stars Group merger.
Ulrik Bengtsson, William Hill CEO, said that these two appointments reinforce the company focus on building a high-calibre team. He said that he looks forward to welcoming them to the team. Ashley officially took up his position yesterday.
