
Novomatic announces the acquisition of HBG Group, following the approval of the Italian Autonomous Administration of State Monopolies.
Europe’s leading gaming technology Group continues its international expansion course with one of the largest transactions in its corporate history. The acquisition of the HBG Group makes Novomatic one of the largest concessionaires in Italy.
The provider has been operating in Italy, one of the world’s largest gaming markets by revenue, for more than 15 years. It has established its position as the technology leader in the market thanks to the high level of confidence of its licensed business customers.
HBG Gaming is one of the leading operators in the Italian market. It is active both as a concessionaire of Video Lottery Terminals and Amusement with Prizes. It is also active in the online gaming and sports betting segments and with the operation of bingo sites.
Novomatic’s Ryszard Presch says: “With this acquisition, Novomatic is sending a clear signal of further international expansion. Furthermore, it can double its market share as a concessionaire in one of the key European gaming markets.”
Thanks to the deal, Novomatic now has more than 3,000 new employees on its roster.
Additionally, Novomatic’s Johannes Gratzl adds: “With this successful closing of one of the largest takeover transactions in our company history, we have laid the foundation for further sustainable growth.”
This transaction follows Novomatic’s Greentube brand’s recent deal to acquire Present Creative. As a part of Greentube, the US-based studio creates content for the iGaming and iLottery sectors. Recently, the Michigan State Lottery approved several of Present Creative’s products for use in the state. Novomatic plans on building on this approval by expanding Present Creative’s presence in the fast-growing US market.
