Now, if you have ever played one of these adorable and sweet slots, you basically get the gist. They are all pretty similar visually, and Cupcake is no different. The action takes place in a swirly, dreamy world of deliciousness designed to appeal to all those players with a preference for sweets and candies. In the middle of the pastel-coloured background, you will see a 6-reel, 7-row game grid which uses a scatter pays mechanic to create wins.

If you remember, this particular mechanic was popularized by Pragmatic Play thanks to their Sweet Bonanza slot which has sort of become a template for these kinds of games. Although Cupcakes is not really original when it comes to looks, it is extremely pleasing to the eye and offers some sweet action.

Players collect payouts when they get at least 8 matching symbols in view anywhere on the game grid. This is a cluster pay slot where each cluster triggers the Avalanche mechanic. The avalanche removes the winning symbols from the board allowing other symbols to drop down to fill in the spaces. This goes on until there are no new wins. Then any tallied multiplier is applied to the total prize value accrued during the sequence and paid. Cupcake’s symbols are split into two categories – Gumdrops and the Cupcakes of the title. GAME FEATURES

Gumdrops appear anywhere on the grid in 1×1 size, while Cupcakes hit in 2×2 size and fall to the bottom of the grid or stack up on top of each other. Gumdrops take part in scatter pays, however, when you land a Cupcake of the same colour, gumdrops gather on top of its frosting. Then, the Cupcake’s multiplier adds to the tally when it is filled with at least 10 Gumdrops. Cupcakes feature random multiplier values of 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 30x, 50x, or 100x. This multiplier is reset between spins in the base game.

The Cupcakes slot comes with another interesting feature, the Crush feature. It is active both in the base and bonus games. When 5 or more Gumdrops are part of a winning combination over two reels with at least two Gumdrops on each reel, the feature is triggered. A Cupcake then falls through the reel pair. However, the feature will not trigger if the reel pair has a scatter symbol, two Cupcake symbols, or if there are four Cupcakes already on the grid.

There is also a Free Spins round in the Cupcake slot. When you manage to land 3, 4, or 5 Cupcake Tub scatter symbols you will get 10, 13, or 16 free spins, respectively. During the round, you can also win 3, 6, or 9 additional free spins when 3, 4, or 5 scatter symbols hit. While the multiplier did reset between spins in the base game, it will not reset in the bonus round but keep accumulating.

However, you will see that Cupcakes is a pretty light slot, similar to NetEnt’s previous Cornelius slot. Although the game follows the highly volatile math model, Cupcakes will not turn many a head with its max win potential of 2,762x the stake. That being said, it is still a pretty solid slot that will definitely satisfy your cravings.
